Objectives

On 20 November 2012, the Board of Governors of the University of Castilla-La Mancha approved the creation of the International Doctorate School. The proposal was submitted to the Plenary of the Social Council of the University of Castilla-La Mancha, which ratified it in session on 28 November 2012, and was finally authorized by the Department of Education, Culture and Sports of the Regional Government of Castilla-La Mancha, by means of Decree 49/2013 of 25/07/2013, in a new model of doctoral training that, while based at the university, integrates other bodies.

The objectives of the International Doctorate School of the University of Castilla-La Mancha (EID-UCLM) are, in addition to the general objectives established in the Royal Decree 99/2011 of 28 January for all Doctoral Schools, to organize and coordinate the doctoral theses and the different UCLM doctoral programmes based on two cornerstones: flexibility and collaboration.

Flexibility to accept and consider any suggestion that could be made to the EID-UCLM to enhance its operation and/or facilitate and stimulate the completion of doctoral theses, . It is intended that completion of a doctoral thesis at the UCLM should depend, fundamentally, on the student's capacity for work and the ability of the supervisor(s) to oversee him/her, and not on his/her personal or professional situation or on overcoming intricate bureaucratic procedures. In relation to this, we intend to make a special effort to facilitate the completion of their doctoral theses by many professors of this university who, although they would like to do so, have not yet had the opportunity for various reasons, as well as for secondary school teachers and professionals from other public or private institutions, including companies in the Region, with research interests.

Collaboration in two directions; with all members of the university community and with all those people and public or private entities, Spanish or foreign, who would like to and can contribute to achieving the objectives of the School. We want to give special prominence to those who are the real object of the EID-UCLM: the doctoral candidates. Their opinions and proposals on the completion of their theses and the operation of the School will be sought frequently. The team on the EID-UCLM organizational chart, as well as its Management Committee, will give of their best and dedicate all their professionalism to its proper functioning.

The only limits to this flexibility and collaboration will be the strictly legal ones and, of course, common sense, good sense and compliance with the University's research strategy set by the Vice-Rector’s Office for Scientific Policy.

Governing Bodies

Pursuant to article 9 of the Royal Decree 99/2011, of 28 January, the International Doctorate School will have a Management Committee, which will perform the duties of organization and management of the School and will be made up of, at least, the School director, the coordinators of its doctoral programmes and representatives of the collaborating entities.

The composition and functions of the EID Management Committee and its Standing Committee are regulated by the Internal Regulations of the UCLM International Doctorate School.
