El programa de doctorado en Ciencias y Tecnologías Aplicadas a la Ingeniería Industrial organiza el curso “Microgrid modeling and control”, a cargo del profesor Daniele Bosich de la Universidad de Trieste (Italia), que tendrá lugar de forma presencial en el Salón de Grados de la ETS de Ingeniería Industrial de Ciudad Real.

La actividad está dirigida a doctorandos matriculados en ese programa y otros afines de la UCLM a los que pueda resultar de interés.

El contenido del curso, que se impartirá en inglés, es el siguiente:

Latest advancements in power electronics are forcing DC technology as a key enabling solution for newest islanded microgrids. In these systems, loads are supplied by power converters directly connected to the DC bus. Depending on the designed control bandwidth, load converters may exhibit the Constant Power Load behavior, thus forcing towards the system instability. The lesson wants to explore the CPL effect on the future shipbboard DC microgrids. Starting from mathematical modeling, the instability will be solved basing on advanced control solutions. The mobility wants to explore this topic in order to extend the related knowledge. The 10 hours course wants to give the starting knowledge to analyse the stability of controlled systems. The main study will be focused on DC microgrids, where the attention will be put on the potential destabilizing interactions between filtering stages and controlled converters based on power electronics. Several examples will help the attending students in identifying both the incoming instability and the potential solution. A final part will be dedicated in configuring Hardware In the Loop units to complete the analysis with the proper level of details. Topics in the following:

  • Introduction on microgrid topic, reasons for developing DC microgrids;
  • System instability in presence of high-bandwidth controlled converters at the interface;
  • Constant Power Load instable behavior: nonlinear modeling and linearization;
  • Control techniques to solve the instability;
  • Stabilization of Multiconverter medium voltage DC system;
  • Nonlinear system analysis by Lyapunov theory, parameter estimation;
  • Mathematical modeling of the interface DC-DC converter;
  • DC microgrid: the DC-DC converter’s voltage control;
  • Test in Simulink environment, check of design requirement;
  • Final test in HIL environment, comparison between the results of emulation-simulation;
  • Recent research on DC stability topic

Daniele Bosich (M’07-SM’20) is an Assistant Professor of Microgrids for the Sustainable Energy at the University of Trieste (Italy). He received the M.Sc. degree (Hon) in electrical engineering at the University of Trieste (Italy) in 2010, and the Ph.D. degree in energy engineering at the University of Padua (Italy) in 2014. He is the author of more than 80 papers in the field of marine shipboard power systems, microgrid modeling, voltage control and nonlinear systems analysis. Dr. Bosich is an IEEE Senior Member (PES, IAS, IES and VTS societies).

  • Jueves 14 de marzo: 9:30-11:30 (2 horas)
